On 5th April this year, following the start of the hosepipe ban, my 7 year old, water loving daughter informed me that this was going to be 'the worst Summer ever'.
However, after a period of the driest 18 months in a century and within hours of the hosepipe ban being implemented, the River Gipping and Deben burst their banks and around 106.6 mm, compared to the average of 45mm, of rain fell duing the month at Wattisham.
Apparently, according to the Environment Agency, after we had experienced the driest March since 1953, we have had the wettest April on record and the continuing downpours in May have been enough to reduce the risks of serious drought.
So even if we would like to feel a bit warmer at least our gardens and children will be happy!
I have been writing blogs for thebestof since June 2012 and really enjoy spreading the word about local events, businesses and general information in the Woodbridge, Framlingham, Aldeburgh and Southwold...
