Local Tree Surgeon Paul Cooper helps create Secret Film Sets:
Local Tree Surgeon and member of The Best of the Forest of Dean Paul Cooper of Coopers Tree Surgeons, recently helped to create secret film sets for the forthcoming update of Jack and the Beanstalk which is due for release next year.
Award Winning Hollywood Director Bryan Singer and big-name movie stars including Ewan McGregor, Nicholas Hoult and Eleanor Tomlinson spent ten days on a top-secret shoot of a major new film at Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean.
Excited Puzzlewood owner Helen O’Kane told the Review about the project on Tuesday and said she had been sworn to secrecy while hosting crews filming Jack the Giantkiller. She had only been allowed to reveal the news as trailers moved off the site.
This is the first time these ancient woodlands and scowls have being used in an international feature film. Movie scouts spotted Puzzlewood over a year ago. Inevitably once they stepped in, they fell in love with it.
Emmy award-winner Gavin Bocquet has been visiting and photographing Puzzlewood throughout the year, selecting the best positions for filming and taking inspiration for the sets to be built at their new studios. Warner Bros last year committed £100m to create a European hub for its film and TV activities with the purchase and redevelopment of the old Harry Potter studios at Leavesden.
Paul said “We had to do some unusual things to create what they wanted and had to always be on set in case they needed us. It really was a different world but they seemed to be very pleased with our work.”
