Since early in 2016 the Fleet Business Forum has been talking to all businesses in Fleet about the proposal for Fleet to become a Business Improvement District (BID). Consultation has included public meetings, postal and email updates and updates on the Fleet Business Forum website.

There is now a survey for all businesses to complete. If you haven't received an email with a link to the survey please email info@fleetbusinessforum.com as soon as possible so that you can gove your views on the BID proposal.

The aim is to ballot businesses in the BID area in spring 2017. If the majority of businesses vote in favour of the BID all businesses in the BID area will pay a 1.5% levy based on their rateable value which will provide the sustained investment needed to attract more people into Fleet, improve the trading environment and support staff recruitment and retention.

The BID is a business-led initiative and will deliver projects over and above services already delivered by councils and other service providers.

There is more information on the Fleet Business Forum website including the initial proposal document which gives more information about a BID and the activities a BID could deliver such as:

  • Better marketing and promotion of the town
  • More events and other achievable projects to increase footfall
  • Allowing local businesses to take cthe lead on imptovng the town
  • Having the strength of a united voice and negotiating better deals for business, including local businesses working together more closely
  • Increased business support.
