Torquay’s Living Coasts is part of a new global movement to raise awareness about plastic pollution. The coalition goes under the banner of "World aquariums #ReadyToChange to #BeatPlasticPollution". The aim is to set a good example over the use of plastics and to encourage changes in behaviour.

BASICS Devon a small local charity needs your votes to help secure £5,000 worth of funding.
They want to help save lives in North Devon by having an additional emergency volunteer responder. This will make a huge difference to communities in remote rural areas, with a quick response time it will help save lives and ease the pain and suffering of those that are sick and injured.

Keepers at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park in Devon have a new task on their to do list – taking a pair of crane chicks for a walk. The black crowned cranes, hatched on 16th September, are being hand reared and need daily exercise.

On Friday 12th October YMCA Exeter held its third annual fundraising dinner at Woodbury Park Hotel with guests including The High Sheriff of Devon, Mrs Grania Philips, and Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police, Shaun Sawyer.
Over 1,000 entrants took part in the Royal Marines Commando Challenge last weekend, to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance and The Royal Marines Charity.
