With roots going back to the spirituals of the African-American slaves, Rhythm & Blues emerged in the mid-20th century as a style that is now loved the world over. St Martin's Church is delighted to welcome to its afternoon concert series the Red House Duo as they explore this unique blend of gospel, jazz and pop.
Red House Rhythm & Blues Duo came into being when guitarist Danny Wignall met Chris Hollingshurst during - of all things - a clergy conference in 2015, where Chris was playing piano in an entertainment revue. 'Do you play blues?' was the question, and the rest, as they say….
As two friends in the same line of work enjoying playing some of their favourite music with a bluesy twist, they have shared their music and their sense of fun with audiences around Surrey.
