On Saturday 25th April 2026 the library opens its doors for a special free community event marking six decades since the library first welcomed readers to the Stoneleigh Broadway. The celebration runs from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon, and everyone is welcome. No booking is needed — simply drop in.
The morning will include a display of historical photographs, stories contributed by visitors past and present, and a chance to share your own memories of the library over the years. At 11.00 am, following a welcome from the Chair of the Friends of Stoneleigh Library and local dignitaries, the celebration cake will be cut. Hot and cold refreshments will be provided throughout.
If you — or someone you know — remembers the library's early days, we'd love to hear from you. In the week leading up to the event, we're inviting the community to visit and record their memories for our commemorative display board.
