This October, local musicians in Epsom Symphony Orchestra are celebrating their 75th anniversary of bringing high-quality classical music to audiences in the town.

A special season of concerts has been arranged, with favourite music selected by its members – starting on Saturday 17 October 2026, from 7.30pm at Epsom Playhouse.

From 1983, when Epsom Playhouse opened, Epsom Symphony Orchestra made this its home and has performed there several times a year ever since.

October 1982 saw the first concert with conductor Darrell Davison – who is still conductor and Musical Director to this day. He said:

“At this anniversary time we are celebrating the changes and progression over the years but also the constant – of being committed to delivering a high standard and wide variety of music for our audiences.

“We are also proud of the ‘family’ feel of the orchestra, as we are all here to enjoy making music as well as developing friendships which last so many years, and supporting each other.”
