Local Scout Group in Epsom and Ewell - 7th Epsom (Methodist) Scout Group

7th Epsom (Methodist) Scout Group

The Group is lead by the Group Scout Leader - Neil Dallen (GSL) with the help of many other volunteers. The Group runs many activities throughout the year from Epsom Fireworks Display in November to Water Weekend in the Spring. The full title of the Group is '7th Epsom (Methodist) Scout Group'.

The Group was formed in 1927 by members of the Epsom Methodist Church in whose premises meetings were held until our first headquarters, a Nissen hut, was erected on land at the rear of the church shortly after the 1939/45 war. This was replaced by our present headquarters in 1964. The Group is part of the Scout Association, a registered charity number 306101. The Group is lead by the Group Scout Leader (GSL). It is open to all boys and girls aged 6-25, regardless of race, colour or religion. Every effort is made to encourage children to participate and no one is excluded on medical grounds.

The official opening of the 7th Epsom Methodist Scouts headquarters took place on Saturday April 21st 2012.

Scouts, cubs and guides have had their patience rewarded after a new £700,000 scouting hut in Epsom finally opened.

Group scout leader, Neil Dallen, 62, beamed as he proudly showed Get Surrey around the new building, which includes a climbing wall, an archery area, a fully fitted kitchen and an amateur radio shack upstairs.

Mr Dallen explained that the previous hut was close to falling down and there was not enough space for all the groups to meet there, but now there is twice as much floor space so the scouts can take part in climbing, shooting, cooking, archery and even present their own radio show.
