This August, Care UK’s Cairdean House will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
At Cairdean House, the team has been hard at work creating a love letter to foodies everywhere. From 2pm-4pm, on Wednesday 5th August, the Colinton care home will show off its chefs’ skills, offering a selection of tasty treats from Scotland and beyond, from cullen skink to smoked salmon rosettes.
The event will also include live entertainment, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Cairdean House resident John Hill, said: “I’m looking forward to all of the food on offer! Especially the Scottish touch from the chef!”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
