With festival season officially under way, one care home in Edinburgh is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

his August, Care UK’s Murrayside, will open its doors to families and neighbours for a series of food festivals, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

On Friday 7th August, from 1pm-3pm, Murrayside will be hosting its very own “Murrayfeast Festival”. As part of the event, visitors will be taken on a once-in-a-lifetime tour of flavours from around the world, complete with live entertainment and a special animal visit.

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Suzanne Welsh, Home Manager at Murrayside, said: “We’re so excited to host our very own food festival, which promises to be a memorable day for everyone who comes along.

“At Murrayside, we’re home to residents and team members from a wonderfully diverse range of cultures. This event is a chance to celebrate them through food, showcasing flavours from Scotland and beyond. Many are favourites of ours, so we can’t wait for guests to try.”
