This August, Care UK’s Lauder Lodge will open its doors to families and neighbours for a series of food festivals, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
From 2pm-4pm, on Friday 7th August, visitors to Lauder Lodge, in Portobello, can look forward to a Scottish-themed afternoon, featuring much-loved family favourites, traditional Scottish dishes and a selection of international cuisine.
The events is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Anees Riaz, Home Manager at Lauder Lodge, said: “Our food festival offers a wonderful opportunity for residents to rediscover their favourite childhood traditions and recipes and share them with the local community.
“Food plays an important part in all of our lives, and there’s something special about the way it can evoke happy memories and emotions. That’s why sharing family recipes and favourite dishes is so meaningful for residents here.”
