The event started with a breakfast, networking, led into a very informative, and thought to provoke conference from some internationally renowned speakers.

Subjects discussed were the Future of Work Commission to 2025, launched by Ester McVey – Secretary of State for Works and Pensions and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. Tom Hadley from the REC gave us some fascinating insights into employer trends and the state of the recruitment market. He said that 84% of employers would be hiring in the next 12 months and about joining the Good Recruitment campaign. You can sign up for free - Click Here

Followed by Rob McCargrow AI leader of Price Waterhouse Coopers who talks about Artificial Intelligence all over the world, he had flown especially back from Geneva to be with us and advises the government of growth and innovation in this area.

He was quizzed on jobs of the future – he said to avoid losing your job to AI in the future think of roles that require emotion or dexterity. They will be the last to be automated if at all. He is worth a follow on Twitter as his content is great @robmccargrow

We then had the privilege of Amber Rudd, former Home Secretary and current MP for Hastings & Rye talk about what the government were doing for small businesses and the economy to encourage job growth and provision of talent moving forward after Brexit. She then took some well-placed questions with very good grace and humour, having networked with the delegates prior to speaking.

Adam Jeacock from our wonderful sponsors https://www.smith-ouzman.com/ on Digital technology; it was hugely interesting topped by his last fact that we have more pensioners seeking work right now than millennials so we need to keep them up to date with tech. Because going all-digital doesn’t work for them in the main right now. Do you have an 80-year-old granny that does internet banking?

We ended with the very engaging Maria Paviour who spoke about the well-being of our employees. Those that have high levels of happiness and emotional engagement are 58% more productive! Think of the return on investment of getting your workforce sorted out in terms of workplace engagement? We can help you with that by a great piece of profiling in our coaching toolkit called CARI™.

Cari™ is a completely unique method for measuring the well-being of both your people and your organisation. It uses a psychological model that enables you to ascertain both what you and your people both think and feel, as these two are often in conflict with each other when there is stress in the workplace or at home.

Cari™ will enable you to identify problems before they manifest as symptoms in the workplace and allow you to identify key areas in which you need to focus your resources to improve your organisation’s performance and productivity by reducing sickness absence, staff attrition and accidents/compliance issues.

We have had tremendous feedback from our delegates to this invite-only event. The day was a huge success and one to be repeated next year, different format and speakers obviously, if you are interested in being invited to this let us know!
