Care support to enjoy the summer

Sunshine has been a rare sight this May, so when it made an appearance this week, Anna and her At Home PA (carer) decided to have a walk around the gardens near her home.

Anna has dementia but is still able to live at home because of the support At Home provides. This is an enormous relief for her children, who can rely on the team to contact them if they have any worries. With the same three carers providing support each week, it enables them to get build trusting relationships.

“Possability People are great at looking after Mum who has dementia but still lives at home. The carers are all very friendly, relaxed and patient. Mum gets the same three carers each week which is so helpful as it enables her, and us, to get to know them well.

“They look after her personal care needs, get her meals and entertain her with exercise routines, chat and table top activities like puzzles as well as taking her out to the garden for some fresh air when the weather is good”.

Possability People’s At Home service supports clients with age related impairments, complete mental health, learning disabilities and physical and sensory impairments.  Domestic duties, personal care, medical care, medication management and community support are all in a day’s work for the team, and the service is regulated by The Care Quality Commission, as well as a member of East Sussex Support With Confidence.

Anna’s PA said: “As the weather was nice today Anne and I decided to have a walk to the gardens near her home and take a flask of coffee with us. It was lovely to sit and talk and enjoy all the beautiful colours of the spring planting, and listen to the birds”.

Her family continued: “At Home are great at contacting us if there are any worries and keep us informed on how Mum is doing. We can all relax knowing she is being well looked after by people she knows and likes”.

We all hope there will lots more opportunities for Anna, her family and her PAs to be able to enjoy the gardens and bird song this summer.
