With festival season officially under way, a care home in Mexborough is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

On Friday 14th August, from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s Montagu Hall will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors to the Harlington Road home can look forward to a cocktail party, complete with a selection of resident favourites including piña coladas and margaritas, as well as a variety of canapés prepared by the home’s head chef. During the festivities, guests will also be able to enjoy live entertainment by singer Alan Turner from The X Factor.

Lily Harrison, resident at Montagu Hall, said: “My favourite cocktail has always been a piña colada, as they remind me of my holidays to Spain. It would be the first drink I order to mark the start of the holiday!”

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
