The Cavendish Arms, Derby Road, Doveridge, Derbyshire
Wednesday 24th April 12:00pm until 3:30pm
Join us for a foraging walk where we will discuss the different edible and poisonous wild plants and mushrooms we find. Enjoy a homemade refreshment along the way and a light 'Wild Food' lunch with us to end the day.
Set in the heart of Doveridge, a pleasant little village on the outskirts of Uttoxeter, this exciting new venue is within easy reach of Derby, Burton-on-Trent, Stoke-on-Trent, Ashbourne and Stafford. We will meet at the Cavendish Arms, the course starts with a short introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes, where they relate to foragers. Drinks are available from the pub. Then we’ll set off on a roughly 2.5 hour walk around the village, teaching you how to identify the different edible and poisonous Spring shoots, plants, flowers and hopefully mushrooms that we find. We will stop along the way for some homemade refreshments such as our lovely hogweed and wild garlic soup. After the walk we will head back to the pub for a tasty wild food lunch based on what we have found. This will include some treats made from our recent finds, a wild salad that we will pick on the day and possibly even some wild garlic pesto. After the course we will email you a list of everything we talk about on the day; to help you remember what you have learnt. There are limited spaces available so please book your tickets online.
