A care home in Derby is bringing a taste of the tropics to town with a Jamaican-themed festival.
On Sunday 20th September, from 11.30am onwards, Care UK’s Heatherton House, on Rykneld Road, is inviting the local community to join residents and team members for an afternoon of vibrant music, dancing and island-inspired fun.
Guests can participate in a special cooking demonstration of Jamaican Toto, a traditional coconut cake, before coming together to savour a delicious traditional Jamaican lunch.
To bring the festivities to a close, residents and visitors will be able to sit down for a Bob Marley movie, celebrating the life and legacy of one of Jamaica’s most iconic musicians.
Kate Day, Home Manager at Heatherton House, said: “We’re so excited to be opening our doors and welcoming the local community to join us for our Jamaican festival!
“Bringing people together is at the heart of what we do at Heatherton House, and what better way to celebrate that spirit than with great music, good vibes and a real sense of togetherness.
“We can’t wait for a day full of rhythm, laughter and connection – and we’re hoping the sun will be dancing along with us too!”
