Kent Cancer Trust is a charitable organisation in Kent, which encompasses the Deal Dover  and Sandwich area. As a county based charity, our goal is to enhance cancer research and patient care. We aim to create a centre of excellence in Kent focussed on cancer research and patient care. Every penny raised will be spent in Kent.

We will relieve the suffering of cancer patients and improve the provision of cancer care within Kent, including the Deal Dover and Sandwich Kent area.

How will we do this?

• We will support the development and training of cancer clinicians, medical staff and students
• Promote research into the cause and treatment of cancer, with a view to the development of new treatments
• Support the advancement of education and awareness of the public in the cause and treatment of cancer.

Undertaking research is essential as we fight to conquer cancer in Kent.

It is also a vital development and training tool for oncologists.

Our Aim

Kent's close proximity to London, means that we must compete for the brightest people with the big London teaching hospitals and their facilities.

As a charitable organisation, Kent Cancer Trust intends to attract and retain oncologists in Kent, by offering those of the highest calibre, the opportunity to undertake research and to combine that with patient care

One of the top priorities of a charitable organisation like Kent Cancer Trust is to relate the latest cancer research to the needs patients in Kent, including the Deal Dover  and Sandwich area.

Our charitable activities so far in Kent, have raised £76,000.00 (April 08) and details of some of the charities activities can be viewed at www.kentcancertrust.org.uk on the News or Events section.

What can you do?

Get your business noticed and support a charitable organisation with our innovative Mosaic Appeal, where charitable sponsors can buy tiles on our digital mosaic and leave a message for a loved one, or create a business link to their own website

What will this achieve?

This is a very exciting young project, which will start by:

• providing a three-year research fellowship based at the University of Kent
• an oncologist (cancer specialist) in training can undertake approved research
• we anticipate that they will spend 3-4 days a week on their research project and 1-2 days a week working with patients.
• at the end of the three year fellowship, we would hope to retain their services within the county
