They say an Englishman's home is his castle and no matter where you are, that's true.
But unfortunately some of us happen to have our 'castle' in what's been described as one of the UK's burglary hotspots.
A couple of weeks ago The Metro printed an article revealing the top 20 burglary hotspot postcodes, based on where people make the most claims on their home insurance after a break-in.
And unfortunately a couple of those hotspots are quite close to home, being in Herne Hill and Norwood. Herne Hill actually comes second... wow!
Being in a hotspot area isn't the end of the world and it doesn't necessarily mean that the area isn't a good place to live.
In fact, it can mean the opposite. Thieves often target areas with wealthy residents and desirable properties where the rewards are potentially greater or quieter areas where they think there is less risk of being caught red-handed.
But what can you do if you do live in a hotspot area? The first thing you should do is speak to a security expert who could help you get security measures in place to help minimise your risk.
One such expert is James Winnister who told us "It isn't worth putting off securing your home.
At J-TEch Systems we offer free no obligation quotations and our simple wireless solutions make enhancing your home security a breeze".
