Taxman has postponed further record checks of Small Businesses!

Business Record Checks have been postponed as they look to introduce more targeted approaches in the future. The original pilot scheme to check the record keeping of SME's, which caused controversy, has been put on hold as the consultation process suggested that education should be paramount to improving record keeping.

Since nearly 2,500 businesses' records have been checked since April 2011, HMRC now acknowledge the need for a fresh approach to Business record Checks and so checks will now only take place where they have already been booked as a visit or where seriously inadequate records were initially found.
