Has the BBC's Stargazing Live sparked your imagination?

Do you want to know more about astronomy?

Then visit Jodrell Bank - home of the BBC's Stargazing only 14 miles from Crewe in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.

For over 50 years the giant Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank has been a familiar feature of the Cheshire landscape and an internationally renowned landmark in the world of astronomy.

Since the summer of 1957 it has been quietly probing the depths of space, a symbol of our wish to understand the universe in which we live. Even now, it remains one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world, spending most of its time investigating cosmic phenomena which were undreamed of when it was conceived.

At the Visitor Centre, you can walk half way around the telescope, and view the telescope from many angles. You can also find out more about the telescope, and the history of Jodrell Bank, on a series of information boards around the Pathway.

You can learn about the work of the Observatory in the exhibition room and from the information displays on the Observation Pathway stretching around the Telescope. Then take a journey to Mars or a tour of the Solar System in the 3D theatre.

Whist the Telescope continues to survey the depth of space you can explore the various trails and natural habitats of the extensive Arboretum, with its 2000 species of trees and shrubs and its National Collections of Malus and Sorbus.

During the year, Jodrell Bank holds many special events including star parties, guided walks of the Arboretum and exclusive behind the scenes tours.
