Unveiling the Wonders of Science: Join Us for Another Year of Discovery!

Once again, Coventry University's Fluid and Complex Systems Research Centre is throwing open its doors to the public, for another day filled with mind-blowing experiments, captivating science shows, and enlightening talks.

🌍 What to Expect

Stealth Submarine: Come and see how a magnetic field can silently and stealthily propel a submarine—no engine required!

Patterns from Randomness, Pictures from Noise: Our world is filled with patterns, from swirling snail shells and delicate fern leaves to vast solar systems and galaxies; but how do they come about? Join us to explore how complex patterns can emerge from simple rules, and to learn how nature's tendency to create order from chaos can be harnessed for processing information.

Storms on a Record Player: Did you know that there are storms and cloud patterns on Jupiter that look very much like the ones on Earth? If you want to know why, visit us. Hint: A record holds the answer.

🔬 Who's Invited

Absolutely everyone with a passion for science! Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just curious, our doors are open (recommended for children aged 8+).

Come and meet our scientists and explore the world through their eyes.

(Please note some demonstrations take place in our laboratories, which are only accessible to children aged 12+)
