Join the Paycocke family as they celebrate Christmas Daie in the year 1517. As tradition dictates, a bean has been hid within a small pie on a platter. Whoever picks this pie will become the King or queen of the Bean, and rule the house of Master Thomas Paycocke and all those within its walls for the Twelve Daies of Christmas. They may have good intentions for merriment and games, or those of mischief. Master Paycocke and his Steward Master Dawes will not rest easy until the Twelve daies are done, for all is out of their hands.
Paycockes House will be decorated in fine Tudor style, with traditional food, drink, games and activities, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds, and maybe learn a little Early Modern era language too.
This is a free event, but normal entry fees to Paycockes House apply, see Paycocke's House and Garden | Essex | National Trust for details and parking information.
