Held at Care UK’s Silversprings, on Tenpenny Hill, on the last Tuesday of every month from 3pm-4.30pm, the free sessions are designed for those living with dementia and their loved ones to start a conversation about the condition.
Attendees will have the chance to meet others, share experiences and access advice and support in a relaxed setting, with the next sessions taking place on 27th January.
Complimentary refreshments will be available, including freshly baked treats prepared by the home’s talented culinary team.
Joanne Rix, Home Manager at Silversprings, said: “We know that living with dementia can bring challenges, not only for the person diagnosed but also for those who support them. Our dementia café is a safe, welcoming place where people can take time out and connect with others.
“Community is incredibly important to us, and we want local people to feel they have somewhere to turn for advice, reassurance or simply a friendly chat. We hope the café will offer comfort and support for anyone who could benefit from joining us.”
In addition to the event, the Thorrington community can visit The Big Dementia Conversation online advice hub. The portal includes in-depth conversations with families of people living with dementia and expert advice from Care UK’s specialists to learn how to reduce the risks and symptoms of the condition.
