Tall Trees, on Oaks Place off Mile End Road, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members on Saturday 13th December at 2pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, the care home will be getting into the festive swing of things with traditional carol singing for residents and the local community.
Guests will also be able to enjoy seasonal treats and refreshments as they rekindle the magic of Christmases past.
Resident Veronica, said “I have enjoyed making paper chains for the Christmas tree. These are what I used to have when I was younger and I am looking forward to celebrating past Christmas traditions such as making cards with the children, baking gingerbread men and the Christmas carols. I am looking forward to these the most because I like to join in with the singing, and I’ve started sharpening my voice!”
The Team at Tall Trees, said: “There’s nothing like carolling to usher in the festive season. For many residents, these are cherished songs from their own childhood, and the chance to pass them onto the community is a great way to keep those traditions alive.
“This activity is set to capture the true spirit of the season, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our home to share an afternoon of singing that we know will bring cheer to Colchester.”
