On Friday 7th August from 12pm-4pm, Care UK’s Ferfoot will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors to the Old Hardenhuish Lane home can look forward to a resident-led food festival, celebrating the cultures, cuisines and life stories that make up Chippenham’s vibrant community. The event will feature themed food stalls, where guests can sample dishes including fish and chips, bratwurst, Indian delicacies and Caribbean favourites - some of which will be run by residents themselves.

To get everyone up and dancing, there will also be live entertainment from a local performer and an in-house raffle.

Norman, a resident at Ferfoot, said: “I have many childhood memories of food – I always enjoyed a curry, especially chicken masala.”

Elizabeth, another resident at Ferfoot, added: “My best food memory has to be eating fish and chips at the seaside!”

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
