Birk Hill Infant School is a County-run co-educational school for children between the ages of 3 and 7 years. The school was built in 1953 to serve the Birk Hill estate and surrounding area. The Nursery class was built in 1985. Children leaving us generally move on to Eckington Junior School. We are well supported by our Governing Body and by an active P.T.A. The Department for Education has decided that the maximum number of pupils to be admitted to our Reception year is 60. Derbyshire policy states that we have a two-point entry into school. Thus: - A child whose fifth birthday falls on or between 1st September and 30th April will start school in September. - A child whose fifth birthday falls on or between 1st May and 31st August will start school in January.
