The Spireites put up a battling performance against Huddersfield

Another defeat for the Spireites as they go down 1 nil at Huddersfield. It was a spirited performance, but for slack defending and Spireites not being able to find their scoring touch. With Jack Lester suspended for punching a Walsall player it wasn't going to be easy to score. Had Lester been playing, it could have been a different story.

The Spireites kept working the ball well and getting themselves into good positions, there was just no one to stick the ball in the net. Bowery worked really hard for the team and Nathan Smith kept Donal McDermott quiet, the Spireite fans know what a dangerous player he can be, having been on loan for the Spireites in their last season at Saltergate.

Jordan Rhodes was the big dangerman having just scored 4 goals against Sheffield Wednesday in a 4 all draw. Unsurprisingly it was he who scored the only goal of the game when he flicked the ball home past Tommy Lee from a Novak cross.

The Spireites fans again were magnificent, with just over a thousand fans making the trip from Chesterfield. They were in full voice throughout the game, with fans like these it can only have a positive effect on the team and surely a win is just around the corner.

Next a trip to Scunthorpe on New Years Eve who are currently 3rd from bottom, so another must win game. Then its two home games against Oldham and Exeter. Sheridan will know the team will need to pick up some points in these games in order to get up the table.
