The Spireites Looking to Make Home Advantage Count Against Stevenage

Chesterfield are looking for their first win of the season, when they entertain Stevenage. After two close encounters last season drawing 0-0 at Stevenage, with the Spireites winning 1-0 at home. Expect another close and hard fought encounter, with Chesterfield looking to find a way of opening up a well organised Stevenage defence.

Stevenage didn't lose any of the 27 matches in which they scored the first goal last season, although they had the second worst record for rescuing points from a losing position in league 2. So it will be very important for the Spireites to score first, in order to give them the best chance to win the match, otherwise if Stevenage score first they will defend their lead which they are experienced at doing. This has won them back to back promotions. Their key player is 27 year-old defensive stalwart Ronnie Henry for the past six seasons, making more than 250 appearances for the club.

Chesterfield will be hoping they can perform at the same level they showed at Rochdale when they created lots of chances and scoring two goals. The fans could play a big part in the game, inspiring the team onto victory as they did on so many occasions last season. The fans can now treat themselves to Gin and Tonic or a glass of wine as well as the usual beers on sale in the concourses.
