Chesterfield will need to improve if they want to progress in the cup, as they face a 1st round League Cup tie at Rochdale.  Rochdale will be looking to improve on last season, after they just missed out on the play offs.

Steve Eyre starts his first season has a Football League Manager, having left Manchester City where he spent two decades in varying coaching capacities: Looking after one of the most productive academies in the Premier League.  He has a tough job replacing the clubs most successful manager Keith Hill, who managed to get them out of the bottom tier after 36 years, bringing them League 1 football.

He has managed to bring in 7 players, to add to the squad he has got.  Signing Ashley Grimes from Millwall, the striker scored 15 goals from 27 appearances on loan at Lincoln city.  This wasn't bad for a team that got relegated from the football league. He will hope to form a partnership with Chris O'Grady, the big frontman is the teams main attacking threat who holds the ball up well.  Like the Spireites who have Jack Lester they have their own legend in Gary Jones due to his long tenure with the club, his commitment, determined style of play and his Leadership on the pitch.

The travelling fans have a choice of how they would like to watch their team, they can sit down for the price of £15 or stand up for £12. Across from the away end turnstiles is one of the best Fish and Chip shops in the Country.

With still no sign of a new striker, it will be interesting see who Sheridan decides to play up front.
