The Spireites crash out of F.A. Cup after a below par performance

Jordan Bowery just can't stop scoring, as he netted his fifth in 3 games.  Unlike the defence who can't stop conceding, as they let in 3 goals.  The Spireite fans were hoping they would carry on from a good performance in midweek which saw them knock Tranmere out of the JPT.  Coming from 3 -2 down to win 4-3.

Sheridan wasn't happy with the result, "I apologise to the fans for the performance. Today is the worst I have ever felt as a manager."

The Spireites are conceding too many goals, with the defence making too many mistakes. He went on too say, "The manner of the goals we are conceding look like the players haven't played before and I have not coached before. I have to take responsibility and for the first two goals, our defending was shambolic, which meant we were then chasing the game. When we got back to one all, they had hardly been out of their own half and we end up conceding again and everyone's flat".

It's difficult for the fans with the team struggling in the league, it was hoped that the F.A. Cup run would ease the pain, having not beaten a league side in the Cup since their famous Quarter Final victory over Wrexham. Playing a side a league lower it was hoped that this wouldn't prove too difficult. Too make matters worse Town would have been drawn against Redbridge or Oxford City both non league sides at home. This would have given Town realistic hope of reaching the 3rd round, where the big teams come in.

Its back to the League with an away trip to Oldham, Sheridan will be meeting his old club as will his backroom staff and a few players. Sheridan will be more determined to get a result at Boundary Park, he will not want his fomer team to rub salt into the wounds.
