The Spireites still in the relegation zone and 5 points from safety knew they needed to get something out of the game. They knew it wouldn't easy because the last time they met, the Spireites lost 6-2. They also had the ex Man United player in midfield, Alan Smith on loan from Newcastle United. Franck Moussa was making his debut in the starting line up after signing on loan from Leicester City, he replaced Derek Niven in centre midfield. Lester came back into the team after a much deserved rest, replacing Westcarr to partner Bowery upfront. Whittaker came back into the team replacing Alex Mendy, to play on the left wing.

A very bright start from the Spireites, Bowery chased down their defender, who put the ball out of play. Allott took it short Whittaker, he swung in a lovely ball which was headed down by Trotman which Talbot, who finished from 12 yards out. A great start for the Spireites, Bowery was causing the Mk defence some real problems, he was winning everything in the air, and using his physical strength to keep hold of the ball.

MK couldn't get into the game, it wasn't until O'Shea switched flanks with Chadwick that they started to be come a real threat, and the Spireites managed to hang on until half time.

Second Half the Mk Dons made a change bringing on Powell at half time, this made huge difference to the game, Powell using pace to cause the spireites defence real trouble. Powell and Chadwick were testing Lee's reflexes, he was managing to keep them out. Eventually the Mk Dons found a breakthrough in the 56th minute when O'Shea fired from 25 yards into the corner of the net.

It was end to end stuff, both sides coming close to finding the winner, but for some good, saves from both keepers the game ended 1-1.

Chesterfield played really wellvagainst a good MK Dons side, and deserved a well earned point. Although results went against them, and they went back to the bottom, they are only one point from safety. Bowery was man of the match, putting in probably is best ever performance in a town shirt, he showed real strength, intelligence and real hunger.
