The Spireite Board back John Sheridan
14th December 2011

After another defeat for the Spireites, when they lost at Wycombe 3-2, having twice held the lead through two goals from Dean Morgan. The Club today Wednesday the 14th of December announced in a statement their full support for Manager John Sheridan and that funds will be made available for January for the opening transfer window. Leon Clarke will be at the top of Sheridan's list having scored 9 goals in 13 appearances for the Spireite's since his loan move from Swindon.

The other areas that need strengthening are defence and midfield, a defensive midfielder is desperately needed, someone that can protect the defence by breaking up the oppenents attacks.  At the moment the opposing teams are going straight through our midfield, putting the defence under too much pressure. An experienced Centre Back is needed to organise the defence and clear the lines.  On Saturday the defence failed to clear the ball for the first goal, which didn't give the team enough time to organise themselves, which has happened far too many times this season. Attacking wise the team look good, always looking capable of scoring goals.

This announcement has come at the right time, the fans will be happy to know that the board are willing to back John Sheridan by putting their hands in their pockets. There is still a long way to go and anything could happen. The team are playing some good football and are capable of beating any team in this Division. They can't afford to keep making silly mistakes at the back.

Let's hope the Spireites can get 3 points on Saturday, when they entertain Walsall. The fans I know will be in full voice as they have been all season.
