The Spireites have started their pre-season with a bang. In their first game they played at Staveley, they included 3 trialists, Sedgwick, Panther and Quinn. The 3 players promoted from the Youth team, Warfula, Waddle and Hazell got their first outing in the first team. New signings Forbes, O'Donnell and Hird got their first outings for the Spireites. Two goals from Hazell and a goal from Boden, gave the visitors a 3 nil lead at half time.

Bowery came on in the 2nd half and managed to score, Tendayi also scored and Randall scored from the spot, with a cheeky dink over the keeper. Staveley scored with a well worked move, although the Spireites won 6-1 Staveley played well, they looked well organised and well drilled. Jack Waddle had a good game playing on the wing, Hazell looked quick with an eye for goal. Quinn looked the best out of the three on trial and played well at left back.

Another hot one for the match at Matlock, after all the rain, finally the sun as arrived. No Sedgwick he has now left the Club. This time Richards and Togwell were in the squad. Spireites again went in at half time 3-0 up, goals from Boden, Bowery and another cheeky dink from Randall from the penalty spot. Togwell and Richards came on, an early goal from Matlock scored by ex Spireite Gareth Davies. A free kick was awarded to the Spireites, and Richards from 30 yards out found the net. At last someone that can score direct from free kicks. He then scored from the penalty spot to make it 5-1.  Randall played well and controlled the midfield, playing some lovely passes. Quinn played well again, looks comfortable on the ball and linked up well with the midfield.

Telford and Alfreton will much more stern tests, so far so good. The team seem to be gelling well, and finding an understanding with each other.
