Twice Togwell was denied from Stack, who twice pulled off two brilliant one handed saves. Lester also had a chance, when some good work down the wing by Darikwa, he got in a lovely cross which was met by Lester from 6 yards out, his header was saved by the impressive Stack. The second Half, Barnet having rode their luck, decided to shut up shop and get all the men behind the ball and make it hard for the Spireites to create any chances.
Ridehalgh was picked out with a lovely ball from Atkinson, he hit a low cross which Westcarr and Lester were both inches away from connecting with the ball, Lester kicked the net in frustration knowing he should have scored.
With the match heading for a 0-0 draw, a rare break into the box by Barnet resulted in a penalty, Talbot caught the heels of Yiadom. Byrne converted the penalty and suddenly there were streams of Spireite fans heading for the exit.
The fans that had been chanting Paul Cook's name throughout the game were now singing "what a load of rubbish".
Stand Up was told he was deluded by a fellow fan; when the fan walked past and said, "They were an absolute disgrace today". Stand Up, "I think you were watching a different game pal, if it hadn't been for their keeper, Spireites would have been 2-0 up at half time". The final whistle was blown and the boos rang out. Paul Cook speaking on the club web site said: "It's not going to get better in a day or two, there's a process in getting better. But what I will say to supporters is stick behind the team that we select and the progress we try and make, that's all I ask".
The performances will improve, and the wins will come, Rome wasn't built in a day. The manager showed real passion today, he kicked every ball, he gave a telling off when they deserved it, he encouraged, he clapped every good move. He is my man of the match, I feel the club have needed someone like him for a while someone that not only hands out rollickings, but also praises them.
