The Spireites went to Bury hoping to get a result, after a defeat at Carlisle. Ajose who came as a sub in that game, made the starting line up. Mendy came in to the centre of midfield after Allott was ruled out through injury. Lowry came to the team for the injured Hurst and played on the left of Midfield, with Thompson moving to Right Back.
Neither side managed to get going, failing to put any moves together and create chances. On 41 minutes a cross from Mendy was flicked on by Lester to Ajose who converted against his old Club, to put Spireites 1 nil up at half time. In the break Gigg Lane turned into giggle lane as the scoreboard said 10-0 to the Spireites.
The second half Bury picked up the pace and were forcing lots of free kicks and Corners, which were poorly taken and caused no danger. Ajose was getting a rough ride from Sodje and at one time the defender shoved his forearm in the attackers face, but the ref saw no foul. In the end Ajose was taken off to be replaced by Boden in the 73rd minute. Spireites kept giving the ball away in midfield and putting pressure on themselves. Tommy Lee pulled off a good save with outstretched leg from a close range John lewis. Rideleigh then blocked another shot from him with his face, Robertson also cleared one off the line. It was getting frantic for the Spireites and on 87 minutes a shot clipped the bar, which for some reason the ref gave a corner, Schumacher headed home from close range.
The game finished 1-1, Spireites so close to victory yet again although a point was enough to lift them off bottom. Next a sell out local Derby against an out of sorts Wednesday team which promises to be a cracking game, which could go either way.
