Just over a thousand Spireite fans turn up at Glanford park for what was a really entertaining match. For a team at the bottom of the league, the support has been amazing, again the fans were behind team throughout, trying to act as the twelfth man.

Craig Westcarr was back in the team replacing Tope Abedayi who has gone back to Bolton, Boden made the bench. Apart from this, the team was the same one that just lost out to Huddersfield. Chesterfield made a bright start, taking the game straight to Scunthorpe. After 2 minutes Spireites won a free kick, when their keeper collected a back pass, he then kicked the ball away in anger which he should have been booked for. Nothing came of the free kick with Johnson blocking a powerful shot from Morgan.

After dominating much of the play, a goal was conceded from a corner. Canavan scored after slack marking, he headed past Lee. Talbot clashed with one of their players in his own penalty area, both layed on the floor, the ref just played on, the ball came to the player on the floor, suddenly he made a full recovery and tried to shoot. Luckily they didn't score which would have meant Town being 2 nil down. Eventually Hewitt was allowed to come on, Talbot had to go off and be replaced by Boden. The half ended 1 nil to Scunthorpe.

The Second half started, again Town were quick off the blocks and after two minutes they got their reward, Scott Boden fired a shot that came off the post and into the net. Boden was having an impact on the team with his energy and movement, passing and tackling. A Boden clearance was chased down by Morgan, the young loanee panicked and could only clear it to Westcarr, who lobbed it from the edge of the box into the empty net.

With the match going into injury time could the Spireites hang on, they kept battling and hassling the Scunthorpe team and just 2 minutes into the 5 added on, the ball fell to Ryan, who hit a shot from 25 yards out with Lee with no chance of saving it. The game finished 2-2, another case of what might have been for the Spireites.

What will 2012 bring hopefully a victory against Oldham on the 2nd, with the transfer window now open hopefully plenty of new faces.
