Santa visits the Chesterfield Canal

Santa came to Tapton Lock to meet a host of VIPs on Saturday. They were there to publicise the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s Santa Special cruises.

The Mayor of Chesterfield, local MPs and the Chairs of local Councils brought children and grandchildren to meet the great man.

Everyone feasted on pie & peas plus of course mince pies, with the adults indulging in mulled wine. As they set off on a cruise down the canal, each child went to see Santa, returning with a gift.

You can book a trip with Santa yourself. A gift for every child, a mince pie and a drink for every adult; £6 per person.

There will be trips running all day every Saturday and Sunday from 26th November to 18th December. They leave from Tapton Lock in Chesterfield on the Tesco roundabout. Booking is essential, ring 01246 551035.

For the first time, the Trust will also run trips from Nona’s Coffee Shop at Hollingwood Hub, near Staveley, on the last four days before Christmas, 21st to 24th December. To book, call in at Nona’s, ring 01246 477569 or email johnvarley@chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk .
