Rykneld Synchronised Swimming Club was formed in the 1970s at Sharley Park Leisure Centre in Clay Cross.  There are currently around 20 to 25 girls taking part in the synchronised swimming section.  Every year, as well as participating in several competitions at other venues, Sharley Park hosts the ‘Crooked Spire Routine Competition’ which this year was held last Saturday 9th July.

This years’ competition was attended by teams from Leicester, Rugby, Norwich and Leeds.  Rykneld Synchronised Swimming Club entered 3 teams and all won gold, a brilliant achievement!!

The club is currently looking for new members and anyone is welcome to go along for a trial for the group.  There is a full range of swimming strengths present but all must be able to swim at least 6 lengths of a 25m length pool.  Swimmers begin at preliminary stage 1 through to 3, then work through the figure and routine grades 1-5 and skill levels 1-5.

It is a really great group of girls with a good atmosphere and everyone is really supportive of one another.  There are also social activities arranged for members such as the annual water show performances, the Christmas Disco and days out at theme parks.

Training sessions take place twice a week on a Tuesday evening 8 until 10 and Saturday evening 5 until 7.

Anyone interested in participating should contact Jean Timmons on 07940 998 227.
