Rykneld Synchronised Swimming Club were proud to be invited to help celebrate the Hathersage Swimming Pool 75th Anniversary last weekend (24th July).

Due to holidays only a small team were available but they put on an excellent show, including three solos and a team event.  Visitors had come to the event from miles around, and the row of children lining the pool to watch were rapt as the girls performed their intricate moves in the water to beautiful music against the stunning backdrop of the Hope Valley.

The synchro demonstration was part of a wider programme of events, which included a general swimming session, water polo, boat racing and a knobbly knees contest.  It was great to see the many local dignitaries out in their full regalia, and with tea and cakes available plus the welcome appearance of the sunshine, it was a really special, traditional event which brought the whole community together to celebrate 75 years of this great outdoor swimming facility.

Rykneld Synchro club train at Sharley Park leisure Centre in Clay Cross.  Training nights are Tuesday 8 – 10pm (girls can leave the pool early if desired) and Saturday 5 – 7 pm.  We currently have 3 teams – 12 and Unders, 13-14yrs and the Senior Open Age team.  We regularly participate to a good level in competitions across the country, and are active in the development of synchronised swimmers across the East Midlands.

New swimmers of any age are always welcome, please contact Jean Timmons on 07940 998227 for more information.
