Road Closures in Chesterfield for the Olympic Torch this Friday 29th June

There will be rolling road closures on all the roads the Torch will be carried down. Our Olympic Torch route in Derbyshire section lists all the roads it will be carried down. 

Chesterfield Royal Hospital at Calow will be closed to all but emergency service vehicles for around an hour and a half from approximately 12 noon. More information is available on the Chesterfield Royal Hospital's website (opens in a new window)

12.30pm - 1.30pm approximately: One of the main closures for the Chesterfield area will be the A632 Hady Hill / Chesterfield Road in both directions between the A619 Markham Road roundabout to the junction of Deepsick Lane, Arkwright. As this is the main hospital route,  a diversionary route will be in place signed 'Hospital Diversion.'

This route will divert via:

Eastbound: Markham Road roundabout- Lordsmill Street duals − A61 Hornsbridge island- A617 by-pass eastbound offslip-Spital Lane- Calow Lane- Hady Lane  A632 Hady Hill (Police and safety stewards will be in place at this junction)

Westbound: A632 Chesterfield Road, Arkwright − B6425 Deepsick Lane / Hassocky Lane − A617 by-pass westbound onslip − A61 Hornsbridge island- A617 by-pass eastbound offslip… and then as detailed above.

1pm - 2pm approximately: A619 Chatsworth Road (eastbound only), will be closed between its junctions with A632 Walton Road (Morrisons roundabout) to West Bars roundabout. Most traffic will be diverted at the junction of Storrs Road onto Old Road- Slack Lane- Ashgate Road.

[b]10-00am to 12-00pm approx.
Glapwell Lane (Young Vanish) (between A617 The Hill and Losk Lane .. full closure until advised by police.

A617 Bramley Vale to Glapwell Lane .. Rolling road block by police in both directions between 11-15pm to 12-00pm approx.

12-00pm to 1-00pm approx.

A632 Langwith Road / Hornscroft Rd. / Town End / Station Rd./Bolsover Hill... traffic will be diverted down New Station Road - Villas Road,Carr Vale crossroads.
A632 Chesterfield Rd.,Long Duckmanton roundabout ... traffic heading towards Bolsover will be diverted via Buttermilk Lane- Woodhouse Lane- Houfton Road- B6419 Hill Top,Bolsover...police will hold off traffic at this point until the Torch has passed through the Town. ( few minutes).

12-00pm to 1-00pm approx.
A632 Chesterfield Road,Calow to Lordsmill St... the road will be closed in both directions and traffic diverted via B6425 Deepsick Lane / Hassocky Lane- A617 By-pass- A61 Hornsbridge island.
***Unfortuately on instruction from the police, A632 Hady Hill has to be closed in both directions together with the A61 by-pass southbound offslip. BLUE light emergency vehicles will be given access, however non emergency traffic will be diverted via A617 by-pass (eastbound)-Spital Lane-Calow Lane-Hady Lane- A632 Hady Hill (to await police instruction).

1-00pm to 2-00pm approx.
A619 Chatsworth Road (from Walton Road roundabout),& Wheatbridge Road to be closed in both directions.
A619 Chatsworth Road (Eastbound only)... traffic will be diverted via Storrs Road- Old Road- Slack Lane-Ashgate Road.** traffic at Walton Road roundabout will be diverted down the One Way system to the t/lights at the junction Old Road / A619.(if you choose to take this route you could have a wait up to 30mins.
1-00pm to 2-00pm approx.
A632 Walton Road (Chatsworth Road to matlock Road).. closed in both directions and traffic held off at each junction along this road until the Torch has progressed up the hill onto Matlock Road.
