It wasn't just the sun providing the heat as the Chargers set off at a cracking pace. Tries from Pope, Hick and Dan Rymell inside 15 minutes shot them into an early lead they never relinquished. Dan's younger brother Josh got onto the scoresheet as well before the Outlaws clawed their way back into the game with two quickfire tries from McLeod and Rance. At 22-10 the Chargers were wobbling but Pope added a second and Tom Hughes pounced on an error to scoot over just before half time.

With the Outlaws applying early pressure and notching a try from Shaw to bring the game back into vie, the Chargers had to hold firm and winger Brad Gozzard broke from inside his own 20 to run the length of the field under the posts to pretty much seal things. Further scores from Hick, Pope (for a hat trick), Tom Hughes and Gaz Pinnick  rammed home the advantage. Nottingham scored a deserved consolation through Shaw at the end - a decent game played in the right spirit ended at 60-20 for the visitors from Derbyshire. Centre Dan Rymell gained high praise for his high work rate in defence and attack for the Chargers and Damien Pope scored 8 goals in addition to his three tries.
