A crowd of 6,706 turned up for the game between Chesterfield and Preston. The drummer Yogi was back, which mean't the atmosphere was electric. Preston looked a good footballing side from the start as they kept the ball well, and strung some neat passes together. Chesterfield were starting to find their feet, and were causing Preston some problems.

On the 17th minute an incoming corner kick from Preston was met by Carlisle, who headed unmarked into the net from six yards out. Chesterfield kept pressing for an equaliser, Niven was having a good game, and made a fine run, passing the ball to Talbot who hit a clean shot which was deflected out, and for some reason a goal kick was given.

In the second half both teams continued to play free flowing football. Lester was working tirelessly upfront on his own, having to come out wide to collect the ball. The Spireite fans continued to chant at full volume, trying to will, their team on to score. On the 70th minute Preston scored another goal from a mishit header from Nicholson bounced in front of the diving Tommy Lee and looped over him into the net. The game finished 2-0 to the visitors.

Although Chesterfield lost, they got beat by a very good team, that will be fighting for promotion this season.

There was some good news for Chesterfield. Alex Mendy a very talented right winger has signed for the club. He had a 60 minute run out for the reserves earlier today against Notts County. He has a good first touch and has the speed and ability to run and beat defenders. Chesterfield are hoping to get international clearance before Saturday, so he can be included in the squad for the match at M K Dons.
