Spireites Fair in Fleetwood Fight.

Chesterfield took a share of points following a goalless draw against Fleetwood Town at the Proact Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Danny Wilson made two alterations for this encounter, as Drew Talbot and Chris Herd replaced Declan John and Conor Dimaio.

In the opening moments, Lee Novak went to ground under a challenge from the opposing goalkeeper but the referee opted to award a yellow card for simulation. Herd picked up possession and prepared to strike, but watched his ensuing effort sail straight into the stands.

Latching onto a neat through-ball provided Gboly Ariyibi with an ideal opportunity, but the linesman's flag was already raised for off-side. Ollie Banks met Jay O'Shea's inch-perfect pass and found himself one-on-one with Chris Maxwell, but the midfielder fired high and wide of the crossbar.

At the other end, David Ball broke free and struck from an awkward angle but the forward's attempt sailed straight into the stands. Thomas Grant connected with a driven cross on the six-yard line and directed his headed effort high and wide of the post.

Just before the half-time whistle, O'Shea evaded his marker before firing straight into the stands.

After the break, O'Shea found himself in space but failed with a forceful effort which sailed waywardly wide of the post. Gary Liddle met a driven corner-kick near the penalty spot, but failed to trouble Maxwell with his unconvincing attempt.

Waiting on the edge of the area, Ariyibi received possession before evading his marker and firing against the body of an opposing defender. Ariyibi, once again, struck on the volley from around 12 yards only to be denied by a timely deflection.

Arriving late in the area, Sam Hird connected with a low corner-kick but failed to trouble Maxwell in the slightest. For the full four minutes of additional time, both sides continued to push but to no avail and settled for a share of the points.
