Hollingwood Hub on the Chesterfield Canal will be open to the public this Saturday and Sunday, 13th/ 14th August.  There will be lots to keep the family entertained including, canoeing, stalls, displays, face painting, the Fire Service and Nona’s Coffee Shop will be open. There will also be boat trips, if there is enough water in the canal.

The Hub is on Works Lane in Chesterfield, between Hollingwood and Barrow Hill.  It will be signposted from the A619. Put S43 2JP in your SatNav.

The official V.I.P. Opening Ceremony will be at 11 a.m. on the Saturday.

There will be a chance to inspect the David Trickett Meeting Room. This can comfortably accommodate 60 seated in rows or 30 around tables. It is light and airy and has a wonderful view of the canal. It can be hired for meetings, for clubs, for social events, for conferences etc. Extras can include buffets and boat trips.

Hollingwood Hub is the newly restored and extended Hollingwood Lock House. It is the home of the Chesterfield Canal Trust and the Chesterfield Canal Partnership. The work was done thanks to a grant from Community Assets, funded by HM Government Office for Civil Society in 2008 and administered by the BIG Fund, the non-Lottery funding arm of the Big Lottery Fund. Help was also received from Viridor Credits, Arnold Laver and Derbyshire County Council, whose architects and surveyors oversaw the project.
