Chesterfield Canal Trust are dedicated to the promotion and restoration of the Chesterfield Canal. The Chesterfield Canal actually runs for a full 46 miles and 11 miles have been fully restored since 1989 including 36 locks and 11 bridges. Even with just 9 miles left to restore there is obviously still a lot of manpower and money required to complete the work.
Here are a number of ways you could help out......
Become a member of the Trust;
Membership fees are nominal, with a family being able to join for £16, and other membership options available for Individuals and Memberships for Life.
- You will receive a copy award winning magazine Cuckoo every 3 months.
- E-newsletters once a month.
- Invitations to various social meetings and events.
Spend an afternoon cruising along the waterways;
Enjoy a 45 minute cruise along the Canal each and every Sunday at 12noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4pm. You can also charter the John Varley Narrowboat for personal or business use, for parties of up to 12.
Visit Hollingwood Hub and Nona's Cafe;
The fully restored and extended Lock House is due to open on Wednesday 1st June. This new building comprises a Meeting Room and Nona's Cafe, which will be serving traditional homemade food and will be open from Wednesday through to Sunday. A community gardening day will be held on Saturday 4th June and everyone is invited down for a bit digging and planting, further information can be found here.
The development looks very, very impressive and I for one, cannot wait to visit and enjoy a coffee by the Canal. Please visit our Chesterfield Canal Feature for more information. Or follow @cctrust on Twitter.
