As part of the club's commitment to healthy lifestyle choices, North Derbyshire Chargers Rugby League Club have joined forces with Chesterfield based Coghlans Cookery School in a partnership that sees the school become one of the club's key sponsors. In return the Chargers will be promoting Coghlans range of classes and events within the club and outside.
Players from the Chargers' successful under 15s squad were on hand at the school's Sheepbridge facility to present shirts bearing the company name. Prop Ben Doxey, loose forward Jake Beech and half-back Luke Walters have also been part of Sheffield Eagles' scholarship programme this season.
Ged Connolly-Thompson, Chargers Chairman, was delighted to welcome Coghlans on board. "Coghlans have an excellent reputation for quality and we really appreciate having them as a partner. Their brand is one that the club is more than happy to promote."
Andrew Coghlan, whose wife Janet founded the cookery school, said, "We are delighted to work with the Chargers - there is a natural link between what we do and what the club is aiming to achieve. I can only see the partnership growing."
Bryan Thompson, Sous Chef at Coghlans who has worked in Michelin starred restaurants, is keen to advise the players on healthy eating. "What the players eat has a direct bearing on their fitness and general health. We are looking at providing some lessons to the young players on how to plan and cook healthy meals that have quality ingredients and are easy to make."
