Chesterfields 'big' Jubilee Lunch for Cancer Research UK
7th June 2012

As you all know to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Chesterfield Fundraising Group for Cancer Research UK arranged to host a special Jubilee themed Big Lunch.  As you all will also know Sunday 3rd June (the date of the Big Lunch) was also the worst day weather-wise of the entire Jubilee week-end!!

But the show must go on....

We cannot deny, we awoke wanting to cry on the Sunday morning, the weather was actually abysmal and the rain was bouncing.... But the lovely Sarah West at Queens Park who had worked with us to ensure the event happened came up trumps, we were able to move the event indoors into the wonderful dryness of the Cricket Pavilion!!

We must say a huge thanks to all who braved the weather and came along to join us and support Cancer Research UK.  Also huge thanks to all who made the day possible:

The hardworking committee members of the Chesterfield Fundraising Group for Cancer Research UK.

Rascals HQ who provided face-painting, glitter tattoos, helped everyone to make their own crowns and generally kept the children entertained.

Crafty JuJu who set up her amazing craft stall and special Jubilee themed items.

Thurcroft Welfare Band who played steadfastly against the wind and rain outside, but gave a quintessentially British feel to the event and did the Queens Jubilee celebrations proud!

Chesterfield Borough Council and Friends of Queen's Park

Also Big thanks extend to the following who kindly donated wonderful gifts and goodies for our 'Royal Tombola':

Chesterfield Cineworld
Brampton Manor
Chocolate Gift Company
Craft JuJu
Inspire Resourcing
Winding Wheel
Pomegranate Theatre
Queen's Park Sports Centre
Wineworks
Morrisons
Booker
Glenwood Printing

We shall now be at the Olmpicnics in Queens Park on Friday 29th June when the Olympic Torch goes through Chesterfield.  We will be holding another Tombola of fantastic prizes in order to raise monies for Cancer Research UK.
