Chesterfield Heritage Open Days 8th - 11th September 2011

For just a few days of the year buildings open their doors free of charge to a selection of the country’s hidden architectural treasures.

Some of these buildings are not usually open to the public and most would normally charge an admission fee.  It is a once-a-year chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture.

This annual event was established in 1994 as England’s contribution to European Heritage Days, in which 49 countries now participate.  Heritage Open Days is a celebration of community, organised solely by local volunteers for the interest of local people.

Over the period of four days there will be a variety of educational activities, guided tours and organised events taking place.  In Chesterfield the event focuses on, please click through for further information on each:

Hardwick Hall - Sat 10th September

Holy Trinity Church - Fri 8th until 11th September

St Andrew’s Church - Fri 9th and Sat 10th September

St Leonard’s Parish Church - Thurs 8th until 11th September

Please grab this chance to explore parts of Chesterfield and our region from an enjoyable, educational perspective (for FREE!)  If you fancy seeing where you can visit further afield visit Heritage Open Days.
