The Chesterfield Construction Trades Network (CCTN) held a second successful meeting recently at Chesterfield Football Club’s Proact Stadium. Over 45 local construction trades people were in attendance to hear industry related presentations and then to network over refreshments.

February’s presentations were given by Mark Islip, Construction Skills Advisor – Derbyshire for the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board), on the availability of grants for apprentices and other training related grant support via the CITB. Joanne Bekis of Chesterfield College on the National Grant and Derbyshire County Council top up grants for apprentices. Joanne also unveiled the new ‘Skills Made Easy’ programme funded through the ‘Sheffield City Deal’, which puts control over training directly into the hands of employers in the Sheffield City Region (which includesChesterfield, Bassetlaw and Bolsover area).

The coming months will see meetings include opportunities to speak to Local Authorities and construction related spokes people, as well as hearing from selected industry based professionals on a variety of topics including new redevelopment projects at Staveley Hall.

The next meeting, to which all local construction trades and suppliers are welcome, is to be held at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium, Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, S41 8NZ, on Friday March 22nd (March 29th is Good Friday) between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. Entry is FREE and refreshments (including a licensed bar) will be available to purchase.
