North Derbyshire Chargers rugby league Open Age side are preparing for a third assault on the Midlands Division 2 title against Hope Valley Hawks next Saturday.

The team were runners-up in 2009 and 2010 and know they face a tough task against their Derbyshire rivals, who are reigning champions at this level and who have won the two contests between the sides during the regular season.

Coach Ben Hanson is looking forward to the game - "We've started to gel as a team as the season has gone on and we're definitely up for it. The club is having a great year at junior level and we want to show what we can do as well". Chairman Ged Connolly-Thompson, in his first season with the club, is looking forward to it. "It's always great to be involved in finals. Like the Olympics, we couldn't run without volunteers, and the ones involved in the club this deserve a day out for the hard work they've put in. Anyone who wants to get involved with a growing club should look us up on the Internet and social media."

The game takes place at Haslam's, home of Derby RFC on Saturday 18th and kicks off at 12pm. A feast of rugby league action also includes the Division 1 final between Telford Raiders and Northampton Demons 'A' and the Premier final between Leicester Storm and Northampton Demons.
